The law firm of Stolberg and Townsend PA is pleased to announce that Vicki Stolberg has been re-certified in the area of Worker’s Compensation law by The Florida Bar. Ms. Stolberg has been continuously certified as a Worker’s Compensation lawyer since August 1, 1993.
There are 27 different areas of certification offered by The Florida Bar. As of January 1, 2019 based on a search of the Florida Bar website, there are only 188 attorneys listed as Board Certified in Florida Workers’ Compensation Law. Of this number there are only 24 Board Certified Workers Compensation attorneys in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida.
The Florida Bar states that “Board certification recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas and professionalism and ethics in practice”. Certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of evaluation of the competency and experience of attorneys.
Vicki Stolberg has been a Board Certified Workers’ Compensation attorney since 1993. Her partner, Byron Townsend has been Board Certified in Workers’ Compensation law since 1991.
Both Ms. Stolberg and Mr. Townsend keep current with Continuing Legal Education in Workers’ Compensation law, Social Security Disability law and Personal Injury law as these areas often overlap. There are complicated rules regarding liens and offsets for cases that involve at least two of these three areas of law. It is important to choose an attorney who is experienced in all of these areas if you have a motor vehicle accident while on the job, or an on the job or motor vehicle accident that is expected to keep you out of work for a period of at least twelve months. If your attorney is not experienced in all three areas of law you could wind up receiving less than the full amount to which you might be entitled. Additionally, the firm is involved with Florida Workers’ Advocates, an organization of Florida Workers’ Compensation attorneys. This group shares information on up to date judges’ rulings and case law developments in the area of Workers’ Compensation law, along with upcoming legislation. Attorneys in the firm are also members of the Florida Justice Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives.
